An ancient evil rises again…
Long ago, an archwizard declared himself the overlord and created the Great Darkness, which killed or enslaved the majority of the world. The remaining nine archwizards from around the world joined together to stop him, becoming the Halidar. When the darkness and the overlord were defeated, only three of the Halidar survived. The people were freed and believed it was never supposed to happen again.
800 years later, one of the three remaining Halidar has given into temptation and initiated a second darkness, heralding a new apocalypse. As the protections against the darkness crumble, another Halidar dies from immortal poison. In a desperate gamble, the last faithful Halidar, Rhondalyn, must gather a group of unlikely heroes from different corners of the world to fulfill an ancient prophecy.
As the darkness spreads, multitudes flee, seeking to find safety or a way to fight against the darkness. Rhondalyn knows the people she needs are mixed in the hordes of refugees, but how will she find them if she doesn’t even know their names.
